• Damper

  An adjustable plate in a duct that balances or shuts off airflow to a zone or branch.

• Thermostat

  The control that calls for heating/cooling. Programmable and smart models cut energy by matching conditioning to occupancy.

• Working Clearance

  Required clear space in front of a panel (about 36 in. deep, 30 in. wide). Remodels can't bury or block a panel.

• Wire Gauge (AWG)

  The American Wire Gauge sizing of conductors to their amperage. Undersized wire on a too-large breaker is a fire hazard.

  A planned system delivering fresh outdoor air, increasingly required as homes are built and remodeled tighter.
